Londoners make their mark

The Premier League is often regarded as a league dominated by the northern English teams. Liverpool (Liverpool and Everton) and the Manchester (United and City) clubs have 56 titles between them 😍 while London clubs (Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and a few more) have only 21. However, this season, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs all got on to a perfect start while only Man City could pull off a win !

Arsenal began their campaign with a ‘feel good’ 2-0 win away at Crystal Palace while Spurs thrashed Southampton 4-1. Chelsea had a typical performance, consistent with their wins last season, beating former legend Frank Lampard’s Everton 1-0. While Man City had their ground covered with minimum fuss in a 2-0 away win at West Ham, things went awry for Manchester United and Liverpool.

Liverpool, facing newly promoted Fulham, had to come back twice to draw 2-2 and salvage a point. A brace from Mitrovic (one was a penalty with a debatable decision by VAR) was canceled out by goals from their new strike force Darwin Nunez and an old pal Mo Salah. Defending champions Man City sent warning shots across the league as Erling Haaland scored a brace in his Premier League debut win ! New strikers, no problems 😎

While in the red half of Manchester, the Theatre of Dreams (nickname of their stadium Old Trafford) was breached again, only this time in the game by Brighton and Hove Albion as the Red Devils were unable to comeback from a brace by Pascal Gross and lost 2-1. Not an ideal start for their new manager Erik Ten Hag ðŸŦĢ

Elsewhere Leeds United beat Wolves 2-1 to begin their campaign on a high note while Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa were shocked in a 2-0 defeat against newly promoted Bournemouth. Well they say, the best week to lose points is the first one 😜

Bayern Munich thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 in their Bundesliga season opener while Dortmund sneaked past Leverkusen 1-0. Real Madrid lifted their record equalling fifth European Super Cup beating Frankfurt again 2-0

Lots of exciting action coming our way with Spurs facing Chelsea in a London derby (told ya, there were way too many of these ðŸĪŠ) in a high calibre early season clash while Arsenal host Leicester City. Will Bournemouth be a thorn in Man City’s title defence when they face each other next week ? Will Liverpool and Man United bounce back from their shabby season starts ? Tune in next week for more details 😇
