If there was a finishing move commensurate to the result West Bromwich Albion got at Stanford Bridge against Chelsea, it would be the legendary stunner (Rock fans 😢, I feel you). Adding to this, earlier in the week, North Macedonia beat Germany 2-1 in the World Cup Qualifiers! We welcomed Premier League back this weekend with a sizzling plate of fixtures in our hands. Manchester City taking on Leicester City while Arsenal welcomes Liverpool. Let’s dig in !
Things are polar opposites at the top of the table and mid-European spots. While Man City is running away with the title, fourth to eight is up for grabs. I believe a couple of favorable results may even bring the second and third positions in this heated “spot-swap”, we’ll grab some popcorn and watch 😋. A shocking 5-2 victory for West Brom kick started this weekend, with Thiago Silva getting a second yellow within 29 minutes and Chelsea playing with 10 men since. Man City showed why they will be the champions this season, beating Leicester 2-0 away from home. Liverpool is getting back in their stride and top form beating Arsenal 3-0 at Emirates courtesy a brace from the bench for super duper Diogo Jota 😎 and one from Salah.
A welcome win for the Saints after being two nil down, beating Burnley 3-2. Newcastle got a well earned draw against Spurs (looked like Spurs may have gotten away with a loss 🧐) while Manchester United fought back to win 2-1 over Brighton. Seemed like a tale of two half for Brighton really, which has been their story all season long. The “comeback Sunday” was complete when Aston Villa, you guessed it right, came back to win 3-1 against Fulham.
Mondays were never more interesting with two, not one, games in line for us ! West Ham visits the Molineux to play Wolves while Everton hosts the Eagles of South London, Crystal Palace. Two exciting games to look forward to as both directly contribute to the “mini-season” of European “spot-swap” 😂. I’ll leave you today with an interesting poll below,
