No, hold on, Carly Rae Jepsen is not making the FIFA World Cup song (not yet, it’ll be cool comeback though 😎). With the FIFA World Cup qualifiers underway this week, we have some surprising results and plenty of upcoming exciting action!
Interesting additions to the English squad with Ollie Watkins joining the attack and Luke Shaw pairing up with Reece James for the right back spots. Much deserved in my opinion. Belgium taking on Wales was a tough game for the young and talented Welsh side, led by their superstar Gareth Bale, with Belgium winning 3-1. Tough Eastern European game between Slovenia and Croatia went to the former, by a goal to nil. While Serbia nudged pass Ireland by getting the precious three points with a 3-2 win.
Turkey keeping up the excellent form by dispatching Norway with a 3-0 win in the second round of fixtures. Georgia put up a brilliant fight against Spain and were 1-0 up at half time, but a super strike from Dani Olmo in stoppage time wins it for Spain 2-1 . France beat Kazakhstan 2-0 while Denmark put 8 past Moldova.
Also, my buddy from school, Ninad Mayekar, will be playing in the Australian State Championship, Div 5, for The Old Melburnian Football Club. Kudos mate!
Upset ALERT: Turkey beat Netherlands 4-2 in Group G while Ukraine held champions France to a 1-1 draw in Group D.
