It is March. It is the grind of exciting European football games sandwiched between “a rainy night at Stoke” league games. With four teams already into the quarterfinals of the Champions league, the onus is on the Premier League heavyweights Manchester City and Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich to join them. Lazio has been playing well on and off, so I will expect a tough fight from them, especially from their superstars Luis Alberto and Ciro Immobile. Real Madrid takes a narrow lead to Bernabeu against the high-octane Atalanta. I expect some fireworks in that second leg fixture while Chelsea and Atletico Madrid will be a tactical game of chess by both managers, who have ample of “pressure cooker” European games experience.
Thursday brings a lot of Europa league action. A very well poised game between Manchester United and AC Milan awaits my nervous roommates. I’ll be keeping a keen eye on Rangers against Slavia which will be an end – to – end affair. I expect the North London clubs, Spurs and Gunners, to make it through though this is football, a comeback is always possible 😉.
All in all, this will prove to be a fascinating week of exciting football games. Hope you have a wonderful weekend !
